Research on human-AI interaction, the dark side of technology use, and healthcare information technology.
About
I am Associate Dean (Research), Associate Professor, and Distinguished Research Fellow of Digital Technology at the Smith School of Business, Queen's University, where I have been a faculty member since 2016, following an earlier appointment at IÉSEG School of Management in France. I hold a PhD from McGill University, an MBA from the John Molson School of Business, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo.
My research examines how digital technology shapes organizational work and decision-making, with a current focus on human-AI interaction: how conversational and agentic AI systems influence trust, knowledge work, and individual performance. I also study the dark side of technology use, including technology interruptions, addiction, and social media disinformation. My work appears in leading journals such as MIS Quarterly, MIT Sloan Management Review, and the Journal of Management Information Systems.
Before entering academia, I held industry roles in consulting, operations management, and production planning. I am a researcher and educator, teaching across undergraduate, MBA, EMBA, and graduate programs.
